This essay offers a dialogue between the documentary Sud and the author’s east-west crossing of Canada. Adopting Chantal Akerman’s “travel strategy” [stratégie de voyage], this text offers a string of observations on the Trans-Canada Highway’s succession of plains and forests, but also on the inequalities left by the roadside. Through research and creation, the author adopts a literary and cinematographic approach to her experience that renews the imaginary of the road movie and conveys the fleeting nature of the scenes observed on the margins of the road (SP)....
